Behind every major event in the Black Camelot series stand organizations whose influence extends far beyond what most people see. Some seek to protect. Some seek to destroy. Others wield enormous influence while navigating competing missions and internal conflicts.

Understanding these organizations provides readers with a deeper appreciation of the people, conflicts, and power struggles that define the Black Camelot saga.

The Guiding Force

Status: Benevolent Secret Society

The Guiding Force is the most powerful secret society in the world.

For more than a century, it has operated in near-total secrecy. Membership is extraordinarily rare. Only several dozen people have ever been admitted into the organization.

The Guiding Force does not seek large numbers, public recognition, or political visibility. Its strength comes from the extraordinary power, wealth, influence, judgment, and reach of its carefully selected members.

Those admitted are expected to use their positions, influence, and fortunes for good. Membership also brings the protection of the organization and its secret army, the Society of Protectors.

Donald Alexander, Kwame Mills, and Samantha Rivers were admitted to the Guiding Force at the request of former Harris-Simmons CEO Oliver Harris Jr., who sought to ensure their future protection from the dark forces determined to destroy them.

Mission: To unite an extraordinarily select group of influential individuals committed to using their wealth, power, and abilities for good—and to protect them from those who seek to do evil.

Pre-1860

Status: Secret Society

Pre-1860 is the principal rival of the Guiding Force within the Black Camelot universe.

Founded following Emancipation by a group of wealthy Southern agrarian landowners, the organization was created to preserve the political, economic, and cultural influence of its members in a changing America. Although highly secretive, Pre-1860 has always been far less exclusive, less influential, and significantly less powerful than the Guiding Force.

Throughout its history, the organization has quietly pursued its objectives through wealth, political influence, and carefully cultivated relationships within business and government.

During the decades following the Civil War and throughout much of the Jim Crow era, Pre-1860 financed and supported the activities of Before Emancipation, which served as its paramilitary arm. While the two organizations often shared common objectives, Pre-1860 generally operated behind the scenes, leaving intimidation and violence to Before Emancipation.

Unlike the Guiding Force, whose influence extends across the world, Pre-1860 has always recognized that it is the weaker of the two secret societies. Its leaders have long feared provoking the Guiding Force and the possible response of its secret protective army, the Society of Protectors.

Among its known members is Senator Digby Yates, whose prominence demonstrates that the organization continues to exert influence within American political life.

Mission: To preserve the influence and interests of its membership through political, economic, and institutional power while avoiding direct confrontation with the Guiding Force.

Society of Protectors

Status: Protective Organization

The Society of Protectors is the elite security and intelligence arm of the Guiding Force.

Its members are among the world's finest specialists in executive protection, intelligence gathering, strategic operations, and crisis response. Operating in complete secrecy, they defend Guiding Force members whenever extraordinary threats arise.

The existence of the Society of Protectors is known only to a select few outside the Guiding Force. Its effectiveness has helped preserve the organization and its members for more than a century.

When darkness threatens, the Society of Protectors quietly stands between evil and those under its protection.

Mission: To protect the members of the Guiding Force and ensure the continued fulfillment of its mission.

Before Emancipation

Status: Extremist Organization

Before Emancipation is one of the most dangerous organizations in the Black Camelot universe.

Driven by hatred, intolerance, and an obsession with reclaiming a past that no longer exists, its members use violence, intimidation, and terror to advance their agenda.

Historically, Before Emancipation served as the paramilitary arm of Pre-1860, carrying out the organization's most extreme objectives through fear and violence. Though the relationship has evolved over time, Before Emancipation remains a relentless force determined to destroy the ideals represented by the Black Camelots.

Its leaders operate in secrecy, recruiting followers, organizing attacks, financing operations, and spreading fear wherever opportunity presents itself.

Mission: To restore its vision of the old order by any means necessary.

Southern Christian Television (SCTV)

Status: Independent Media Organization

Southern Christian Television, better known as SCTV, began as a Christian television ministry dedicated to faith-based programming, biblical teaching, and religious outreach.

Under the dynamic leadership of Detrick Damon Sr., however, the network evolved into one of the nation's most influential news and information organizations. While its Christian roots remain central to its identity, SCTV has become especially popular among conservative audiences, political leaders, and policymakers who regularly look to the network for news, commentary, and public affairs programming.

Today, SCTV's reach extends far beyond traditional religious broadcasting. Its influence is so significant that many believe the network has the ability to shape public opinion—and potentially influence who becomes the next President of the United States.

Within the Damon family, however, there is an ongoing struggle over the network's future.

Detrick Damon Jr., the heir apparent, is committed to preserving SCTV's original mission as a Christian ministry. He believes the network's greatest strength lies in keeping faith at the center of its programming while balancing its growing role in national affairs.

The family's greatest challenge is Detrick Damon III, the prodigal grandson. His rebellious behavior and controversial decisions have become a persistent source of concern for both his father and grandfather. Neither man condones his actions and remain determined to protect the reputation, integrity, and ministry that generations of the Damon family have built.

Throughout the Black Camelot series, SCTV occupies a unique place in the struggle for influence. It is neither an ally nor an enemy of the Black Camelots. Instead, it is a powerful institution whose decisions can affect politics, public opinion, and the balance of power across the nation.
